Volunteer Spotlight: Elva Vollbrect
NCHS would like to thank our wonderful volunteers for their support and service within our organization. We are united in our mission to deliver quality health care to North County. While we value all of our volunteers, each month we would like to feature one standout volunteer who went above and beyond their duties to help our patients and community. Click here to learn more!
Elva Vollbrecht, our October Volunteer Spotlight, is a community case management volunteer. As a retired office manager of a financial planning firm Elva wanted to fill her days with a meaningful volunteer opportunity to help members of her community. She was referred to NCHS from a friend because the services NCHS offers are necessary and fill a community need.
As a front desk volunteer for community case management, Elva helps answer phones, greet patients, complete follow up calls and any other requested tasks on a weekly basis.
We had the opportunity to catch up with Elva to ask her a few questions about her experiences here at NCHS:
What was one of your favorite experiences with a patient at NCHS?
“When I first volunteered in the program it became clear that I would need to earn the trust of our patients. When I stayed with the program they gave me their trust and now we have a comfortable relationship. Their good humor and optimism constantly amazes and inspires me. They same can be said of our staff.”
What inspired you to be a volunteer for NCHS?
“The staff at community case management care deeply about our patients and ease their anxieties about their life situations. My commitment to the HIV/AIDS community is long standing and predates my volunteering with NCHS, so this is a perfect fit for me!”
Thank you Elva for volunteering your time here at NCHS!
