Eggnog is a holiday staple and helps us celebrate throughout the entire holiday season. However, traditional eggnog is very high in calories and fat; making it very hard to enjoy a glass when you’re trying to stay healthy throughout the holiday season. I don’t know about you, but I’m not giving up my favorite holiday drink without a fight!
This year we’re going to help you whip up some holiday cheer with this dairy-free eggnog! This recipe brings all the classic flavors and rich creaminess of the original beverage but with fewer calories and more nutrition! This recipe is made with egg substitute, which not only makes the drink lighter in calories but cuts back on a lot of fat and cholesterol. Enjoy!
2 ½ cups milk (soy or nut milk for dairy-free)
¾ cup egg beaters/substitute
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3 Tbsp sweetener
Pinch of salt
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Adjust sweetness to taste.
Chill and devour!
Tip: If you would like to convert this drink into an eggnog latte you can heat up your blended mixture on the stove (stirring constantly) and add ¼ cup hot coffee.
*note: egg beaters/substitutes are pasteurized products and are safe to consume without being cooked.
