Dr. Laurie Kearney says she fell in love with pediatrics during her first year of medical school. "I had planned to study sports medicine, but did an elective in pediatrics, spending every Wednesday afternoon with a pediatric intern, and I had such a wonderful experience that I decided to specialize in pediatrics."
Dr. Kearney earned her Bachelor's degree from Columbia University in New York, and her medical degree cum laude from the State University of New York at Brooklyn. She completed her internship and residency at New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center. Laurie Kearney is board-certified in pediatrics.
Dr. Kearney joined North County Health Services in 1997, and practices at the San Marcos and Encinitas offices. She is a member of the American Medical Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and is a Fellow of the American Association of Pediatrics. Dr. Kearney is fluent in English and in Spanish.
In her spare time, Dr. Laurie Kearney loves to run and bicycle along the coast in Carlsbad, where she resides. She has completed over 75 marathons, winning nine, including the Western Hemisphere Marathon in Los Angeles. She has also completed three Ironman triathlons. She enjoys sharing her love for athletics with her patients, stating "developing an active lifestyle in childhood is a foundation for a lifetime of fitness and good health."
