NCHS was founded as a private non-profit health care organization in 1973. The mission of North County Health Services is to improve the health status of our diverse communities by providing quality health care that is comprehensive, affordable and culturally sensitive.

11% of the $34 million annual budget comes from the federal government; 62% comes from patient fees; 23% comes from local governments, foundations, corporations, and individual grants and contracts; and the remaining 4% comes from donations, interest income and rental income.
