NCHS was incorporated as a private non-profit health care organization in 1973. The mission of North County Health Services is to improve the health status of our diverse communities by providing quality health care that is comprehensive, affordable and culturally sensitive. In 2009, NCHS saw:
60,519 patients, with an annual total of 267,271 medical and dental patient-visits
28,056 patients were children & adolescents
51,000 individuals were served via NCHS’ outreach staff or health educators
11,350 women & children were served by NCHS’ WIC nutrition program
3,280 pediatric vision and hearing screenings were performed at licensed childcare centers by NCHS staff
46,000 patients who made NCHS their medical home
110,000 patients served through our outreach services
527 employees are members of the NCHS staff team working at our health centers, WIC centers, and administrative offices (physicians, and other medical professionals are employees of NCHS)
80 staff clinicians. In addition to physicians, a team of certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners and physician assistants help provide patient care.
13 facilities where patients receive medical and dental services, including 11 health centers and 2 mobile medical and dental clinics
100% all NCHS physicians are board-certified/eligible.
80% staff retention rate
48% of the $40.59 million annual budget came from the government insurance plans; 20% came from patient service programs and grants; 13% came from health education and outreach grants; and the remaining 19% came from self pay patients, private insurance and miscellaneous revenues such as interest income and rental income.
