Volunteer Opportunities

“When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.”
- Helen Keller

Why volunteer?

It strengthens our community; it’s good for the organization, and it’s good for you.

Effective volunteering requires an investment of your time but it’s worth it because you will:

• Learn new skills
• Make new friends
• Have the satisfaction of helping others
• Have a sense of accomplishment
• Make a difference

Volunteer activities are open to everyone. North County Health Services (NCHS) welcomes volunteers and encourages on-the-job training experiences through externship programs with local institutions.

Mission of the Volunteer Program

To enhance the delivery of quality health care through expanded resources.

Voluntarism is important in our culture. Meaningful volunteer work is a rewarding experience. It can be a fulfilling adventure. Volunteering can raise our awareness of others’ needs; it can bring people together and put to good use valuable resources in time, talent and contributions. The outcomes of volunteering attest that change is possible when people take time to care for one another.

Our Mission

To improve the health status of our diverse communities by providing quality health care that is comprehensive, affordable and culturally sensitive.

North County Health Services (NCHS) is proud to be a community partner in health. Founded in 1973, NCHS, a 501(c)(3) non-profit health care corporation, was organized by a team of nurses who provided care to residents of the North County using a mobile clinic. North San Diego County was rural, had few health care providers and many residents lacked transportation. Today, the profile of North San Diego County has changed; it is more urban, yet access to health care remains a problem. In spite of these changes, we have remained true to our mission. We are proud of our cooperative management, solid financial operations and comprehensive scope of services. We are also proud of the diversity of our workforce, and quality of the staff.
