Barbara Palen, Certified NP, Primary Care

"One-on-one teaching is a very special part  of my job."

A native of Syracuse, New York, Barbara Palen received her degree in nursing from Georgetown University School of Nursing. She completed her degree as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (C.P.N.P) at Children's Hospital in Washington, D. C.  Barbara chose her specialty because children are fun, resilient and quick to recover.

One of the most significant aspects of her job is to establish open communication with her patients. Barbara says one of the most important things she does is to make sure parents understand the developmental and nutritional needs of their children and the recommended treatments for illnesses. She believes shared knowledge can make a big difference in the lives of our patients.

Barbara is a member of the California Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Barbara has been in the San Diego County areas since 1979 and lives in Carlsbad with her family. She enjoys camping, horseback riding and cooking. She volunteers in Girl Scouts, the Angel Syndrome Foundation and with her church.
