Denise Gomez, MD, Internal Medicine

“I want patients to feel like someone really cares about their problems and is truly interested in making them feel better.”
Dr. Denise Gomez graduated from the University of Irvine Medical School and completed her residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. She holds memberships with the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of HIV Specialists. Dr. Gomez joined North County Health Services in June 2000, and is Lead Clinician of the Oceanside Loma Alta Health Center.

Trained originally as a pharmacist, Dr. Gomez says "I was always interested in primary care and the treatment of medical diseases.  As a pharmacist, I learned a lot about medical disease and was mostly interested in Adult medicine, so a natural progression for me was Internal Medicine where I could really utilize my pharmacy knowledge to help care for patients."  Dr. Gomez believes that in treating patients, communication and focusing on the history of the patient is most important as well as helping them become better informed by providing education, preventative heath care or chronic disease management.

Dr. Gomez came to NCHS because "NCHS has consistently demonstrated a commitment to providing excellent service and care to all patients, which is consistent with my goals as a doctor."
Denise Gomez is a native Californian, and resides with her family in Vista. She enjoys reading and horseback riding. Dr. Gomez volunteers with the San Diego County Public Health Services HIV Standards of Care Committee.
